Electrorack Answers Client Demand With Scale-IT™ Scalable Blanking Panels
Anaheim, CA – April 2, 2009 – In response to overwhelming client demand for a scalable, cost-effective, re-usable blanking panel, Electrorack has introduced its new patent-pending Scale-IT™ Blanking Panels. These first-of-a-kind panels equip facility managers with a new weapon in tackling heat and keeping it at bay while only having to stock a single size panel to meet their needs.
“Blanking panels play a significant role in proper airflow management, and with our innovative living hinge design – we’ve created a one piece, single size, cost effective panel that not only seals airflow gaps between panels, but quickly scales up or down to fill rack unit openings of any size” said Todd Schneider, Electrorack’s Director of Marketing. “Additionally, unlike some competitive offerings that require tearing apart large, flimsy sheets of panels that cannot be reconnected, our panels are rigid, hold their shape and snap together, making them re-usable.”
Traditional blanking panels present considerable challenges. Many are designed to specific rack unit sizes, preventing scalability, and are constructed of steel or aluminum, making them heavier and expensive to ship. Further, traditional panels can take a long time to install – especially if screws must be used with each panel – adding to installation expense. Injection-molded panels offer 1U or 2U sizes, but are often very bulky, requiring significant storage space. Scale-IT panels address all of these issues at once.
Electrorack’s RoHS-compliant Scale-IT Blanking Panels are offered in a 19” EIA 1U form factor and are compatible with any style 19” EIA vertical mounting angles (VMAs). The design allows IT or facilities personnel to quickly cover large openings in a rack without fastening every panel. And Scale-IT's lightweight, flat plastic construction comprised of UL94V-0 fire-rated material results in lower shipping costs and reduced storage space requirements.
